Mediation Mends.

I’m Sarah Whitt.

I founded Mediation Mends to offer a practical process to make peace.

When I first studied mediation, I felt I’d been hit by lightning. My skills, interests, and career history merged. I’ve since trained nonstop with experts across the continent, learning the tools and techniques of peacemaking.

I’ve honed those skills through work with clients from different cultures facing disputes ranging from broken contracts to seemingly irreparable relationship damage. I specialize in court ordered high-conflict custody cases, working regularly with the Families in Transition Program of the Children’s LAW Center.

I’ve learned many sides of the court system, through my work as a CASA of Cook County, and decades of paralegal work. I work with Sheehan & Associates Law, helping people connect with their interests, tell their story, and clarify on what resolution looks like to them.

  • "Sarah is empathetic, insightful, strangely smart, very kind. She's respectful of every person that she interacts with and holds space for - their thoughts, feelings and experiences. She allows people to bring their whole selves to the work."

Megan Sheehan, Esq., Sheehan & Associate Law

Why I mediate:

  • "During my career as a mentor for New York Peace Institute, I have worked with countless mediators over the years. In my experience, there is always one - one whose intrinsic grasp and application of the mediation process stands out. Sarah Whitt was that one."

Hal Gessner, Board Member, New York Peace Institute
